Miffed by Griffs.
Walking in this pub was barren. Perhaps a sign that should have held a little more weight.
Menu looked like good solid pub fare with all the favourites - steak & chips, burger etc. I decided to go with the pie of the day; kangeroo. Perhaps my understanding of 'pie' is skewed, for what was offered to me was a light, buttery puff pastery top, with runny, watery soup underneath, displaying the occasional glimpse of kangeroo. Optimistically i asked for a spoon to eat this with, thinking perhaps the flavours would be so sublime as to shake this common understanding that i had, but alas, this was not the case.
I told the waitress who took it back to the kitchen. She explained that something was amis, and the chef was now throwing the rest of the mixture out. She then asked what i would like to replace the meal. I went for the burger. Failsafe. This was fine - onion relish, meat tasty yet overcooked, but came out 20 minutes later - after others i was dining with had finished their meal. I was told that the chef had offered me a dessert on the house, but i couldnt even get through half of my burger so the idea of a sweet didnt tempt me. The bill came out and the pie was on it. Obviously hearing us question this, they promptly took the reciept back and changed it - however my main meal was still charged.
Perhaps i expect too much but i felt that this was such unprofessional conduct - especially for a relatively new pub who apparently offers half price meals on wednesdays to draw people in. I hope they pull things together, but i left incredibly disappointed.
