You'll probably hop, skip and jump your way into Grasshopper Kitchen when you hear what's on the ever-surprising Asian fusion menu. Brought to you by Todd Rumble and Michael Rutherford, the same owners as next door's Claret House Wine Bar, this unique venture takes you on an adventure into the innovative possibilities of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. Chef Minh Le works his magic on dishes like tartare of yellowtail kingfish with gazpacho sorbet, wasabi roe and ponzu vinaigrette; oven-roasted spatchcock with braised wombok, spicy Vietnamese tomato sauce, watercress and grape salad; and the chef's undisputed favourite, the slow-braised beef cheeks cooked in Vietnamese-style aromatic stock with Asian vegies. There are sure to be plenty of diners jumping at the chance to nosh on these goodies.

My New Favourite
I was taken to Grasshopper for a thankyou gift, and what was going to be a nice, pleasant meal turned into a much longer but great night out.
We were one of the few tables of two amongst a bunch of groups, which made for a fun ambience. Meals were generous and really flavoursome - extra requests were no problem at all. Probably because of the other tables we really got caught up and put away a few wines with dinner, before moving to the wine bar next door.
After expecting to be home at 9pm we rolled in at 12.30 - a sign of a good night!!

Great concept and the food was wonderful. Went to this restaurant with no expectations and left very happy. Friendly staff who were happy to suggest wines to match our meals.
A range of prices for starters and mains so you can really spend up or keep it fairly cheap. A good place to come if you want good food but don't feel like dressing right up.
Would recommend the seafood green curry and the green papaya salad with prawns.

Loved this place
Loved everything about Grasshopper. It was jam packed on a Wednesday night and we hadn't booked but they squeezed us in. The food was beautiful and very generous serves. Most of the other tables were large groups who looked like they were having a jolly old time. We shared spring rolls and soft shell crab to start, then the BF had beautiful melt in your mouth beef cheeks while I had the thai beef salad. Both meals were really great.

Fantastic food, great prices
With main courses at most decent restaurants heading towards and over $40 these days, it is pretty cool to find somewhere good where the menu is under $30.
Judging by the crowd in situ on a Wednesday night, I wasn't the first to discover this.
I had some very delicate and tasty prawns to start ($12), followed by a hearty and flavoursome pork belly ($26). Two thumbs up. My girlfriend went with the pork spring rolls ($9), which were very large and very tasty, not at all like regular spring rolls, and a thai green chicken curry ($17) which was mild but still full of flavour.
We were too full for dessert but a couple of Kirin beers washed everything down nicely. Service was friendly and efficient. I'll definitely be going again.
