Not going back
My husband and I dined at Grappino with another couple. This restaurant would be so much better if they just put some foam core on the roof to deaden the sound. Honestly, we couldn't hear each other talk. The waiter we had was a young french fellow, who quite frankly appeared to have somewhere else he'd rather be. Our water glasses were not refilled, we had to put our hand up for more drinks etc. We booked for 8.30pm and our mains arrived at the table at 10.40pm. Tiny servings, and we paid $8 for a side which consisted of four asparagus spears. I won't be going back.

Should do better
Appalling service, male waiter wanted to argue when request made.Food a real let down as had been here before and enjoyed the experience.Be careful when paying as both times when paid by card have had to point out over 50 dollar discrepancies.

Great food, good service, crap table
Have been a few times to this restaurant. Great atmosphere, lovely food, attentive waiters...however despite booking in advance, I always get the worst table. 6 people squashed on to a 4 person table, the table for two near the kitchen/toilets...when booking ask for a decent table to avoid disappointment. Otherwise a great Italian experience.

Such a good atmosphere
Went with my friend for dinner. The eccentric waiter and hostess, the small clean atmosphere, all the aspects of a good restaurant. I couldn't help but have high expectations. Ordered a couple entrees and some pasta for the main. The entrees were good even though the bisque sauce tasted exactly the same as next door. Understandable since same owners, and Montrachet is a good restaurant.
Anyway, the disappointment came in the main pasta. The pasta was clearly cooked in advance. This killed it.... why does Italian have to be fast food in Australia?? How come you can't get decent al dente pasta for a 120 dollar meal? Although I would never do it, you can marinate cooked spaghetti in sauce in your own house. When you pay a hundred bucks, you expect a bit more decent cooking.

Classy restaurant with nice ambience. Good friendly table service but long delays between entree and main. (One hour ten minutes for only two people.) Veal poorly cooked, chewy and poor value for price. Price for entree differed from that shown on menu by $5 higher.

Awesome experience
My partner and I went here to celebrate being together for 2 years. The atmosphere as soon as you enter is cheery, and the little restaurant is crazy and bustling on any night. You definately need to make a booking. It seems as if most of the restaurant diners are regulars and the staff happily chat away. The waiter that looked after us was impeccable, I could not fault his service and being a waitress myself, im pretty critical. We both couldn't go past the parpadelle marinara in a cream of lobster sauce (for something different) $26.50 from memory. It was absolutely gorgeous. There was lots of fresh seafood and the dish was presented beautifully. We shared the 'trio gelati' for dessert. Three scoops of raspberry, lemon and apple sorbet were served in a vanilla basket surrounded by fresh fruit. I think the dessert was $8. Retro prints and vintage Italian movie posters line the walls, and the wine wall at the bar is impressive. There are also several daily specials.
Definately go and try grappino!
