Grand Palace

What puts the grand in the palace? You could argue it's the location. Positioned on the riverside, looking out across the park to the majestic Bell Tower, the setting is suitably serene for a pleasurable fine dining experience. Originally the Key House built in the '20s, this unique structure sits very comfortably fronted by a quaint little water garden. And inside, the space lends itself perfectly to a contemporary, Asian-influenced design. This exquisite fusion of styles is also evident in the extensive menu. Fai Wang, award-winning chef and owner of Grand Palace, specialises in authentic Cantonese szechuan cooking, but presents his creations in a very modern Western style that pleases a wide array of crowds. His Asian diners flock here for the live seafood selection, while Perthites and international visitors can indulge in good old-fashioned favourites such as spring rolls and sweet and sour. But if you care to be a little more adventurous, Fai is happy to make a personal recommendation to suit your palate. In fact, you'll be made to feel so welcome in these elegant surroundings, you may decide to take an extended lunch, particularly when you see their extensive wine cellar selection.

Completely overrated!!!
We had read a great review on this restaurant in the newspaper and decided to take visitors from overseas, after ordering over $500 worth of food everyone of us was still hungry, and we were served undercooked chicken. We asked for more food for one of the dishes, the only one with any taste to it, and were refused, the attitude of the management was terrible when we questioned the serving sizes. We paid for what we thought the meal was worth and left. The worst Chinese I have eaten. I wish I had read these reviews first.

Worst service ever!
We had heard good things about the Grand Palace, so decided to give it a try for our wedding anniversary. Big mistake! The food was average, bland even, but it was the service that was unforgiveable. When we arrived we were pointed in the general direction of our table and the menus practically thrown on the table. It was 20 minutes before they took our drink order. My entree arrived about 15 minutes before my husband's. He hadn't even finished his (ie spoon still halfway between plate and mouth!) before they tried to take his plate away. We weren't offered fresh drinks or coffee/dessert. The atmosphere was very loud, we had to shout to talk.

Best Chinese meal ever
Truly outstanding food - possibly the best Chinese meal I have ever had. We had Hong Kong prawns, szechuan chicken and calamari - highly recommended!

Friendly and professional staff even though we came quite late on a Monday night.

Certainly the place to go if you fancy a fantastic Chinese culinary experience in Perth.

Every heard of a Light Banquet?
Food was very tasty, but serving size is extremely small. Everyone in our party left the restaurant hungry, despite the $390 bill for our lunch.

Management were not the slightest bit interested in our feedback, stating only that the 5 course banquet we'd ordered was a "light meal" and that it included unlimited fried rice.

A great place to dine.
We were looking for somewhere to eat late on a weeknight & they were able to accept us. The service and the food were superb. Highly recommended.
