There's a reason why the Grace Sydney building oozes class: It was once the headquarters for department store Grace Bros in the 1930s, and many of its historic features remain intact or have been restored. While the brasserie has been dramatically refurbished during its stint as a hotel - with a new live cooking station, enhanced buffet area and swanky automated espresso machine - it still retains some of that original elegance, which extends into its bargain-value food offerings.
For weekday lunch, guests can indulge in a buffet of breads, roast cuts, pasta, seasonal vegies, salads and desserts. Expect such tantalising items as the roasted barbecue char sui pork salad, pepper crusted fish with lemon and caper butter sauce, linguini with spicy tomato eggplant stew or Southern crispy fried chicken. They also offer a hot and cold brekky buffet daily, with eggs cooked to order.
