Just a couple of steps off the well-worn path that is Martin Place, you'll find a little slice of Greece. Part of the GPO complex, which comprises a seemingly endless array of bars and restaurants, the Subterranean Bar and Grill offers diners a taste of the Mediterranean.
Surrounded by heritage sandstone walls, diners can prop themselves up on stools at the bench-style tables and watch all the excitement of the barbecue grill, which takes up prime position in the kitchen. It also serves as the basis for most of the menu, with souvlaki, seafood, sausages, chicken and even pork belly cooked on the sizzling hotplate. Traditional Greek sides are a must, and there are plenty to choose from, including tzatziki, olives, pita bread and fresh Greek salad.
