Conveniently located just outside of Canberra, Gooromon Park Homestead Cafe gives the delightful feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere, of going back to your rural roots despite being only a short drive out of the city, which is still clearly viewed on the horizon. Perfect for us short-attention-span city folk who nevertheless want a taste of rural idyll. The old 1940s homestead with its closed-in verandah typifies good old-fashioned country life, and the restaurant continues the theme with good old-fashioned country prices, and country-sized servings. However, there is no lack of 'city' sophistication. A delicious example is the scallop fettuccine with hickory-smoked tomato, baby spinach and basil pesto. They also do a fabulously decadent high tea in the afternoons with finger sandwiches, scones, tarts and a glass of Champagne. Definitely my sort of afternoon tea!

Wonderful venue brilliant food and lovely staff
We went to this Cafe for breakfast on Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I had a homestead breakfast and my wife had the corn fritters. The food was fresh, plentiful, hot and was served quickly. The coffee was excellent and the service was first rate. It is a very relaxed atmosphere and sitting looking over the landscape was a wonderful setting.

Great food, Great Atmosphere, Great Staff and Great View
I have been to this restaurant for some time, and it's time I gave a review. Take a Bow!!! The breakfasts are delicious, the chef can really cook. The corn fritters are delish for brekkie, the lunches are all divine with fresh ingredients and succulent enticing flavours. It's worth the trip, and really it's not just for horse riders. Heaps of people make the trip out for brekkie or lunch. They also make a range of takeaway sauces: Strawberry Coulis, Passionfruit Coulis and lemon curd have often made their way home with me. Make it a lovely habit for you and your mates. If you get a bit tipsy, they're still nice to you!!!!
