After a stylish refurb and with a newly directed focus, this former party pub has emerged from its cocoon as a gorgeous foodie-friendly butterfly. The new menu includes an exciting tapas selection, with mouth-watering titbits such as scallops and chorizo with garlic mash or duck and wild mushroom pasties with plum sauce. Also making an appearance are an extensive selection of mini pizzas, with classic taste combinations such as goat's cheese and pesto or potato, gorgonzola and rosemary.
The contemporary dinner menu seals the deal as to its gastropub status, featuring very reasonably priced mod-Oz dishes including tempura zucchini flowers with chevre and panzanella and chicken breast with sage, prosciotto, kipflers, beans and jus - but you could just as happily stock up on a mountain of share plates and order a pitcher of something from the cocktail menu.
