Ginza

One of the more recent additions to the Unley Street dining strip, Ginza brings something new to the party with traditional Japanese up front and casual yakiniku out back.

For first-timers, it helps to think of Ginza as two separate restaurants occupying the same site. In the minimally decorated front section is the more traditional restaurant. A fantastic plate of tempura vegetables, sashimi platters and an extensive range of wagyu steaks are the real highlights here.

Out back in the previously unused outdoor area, the folks at Ginza have created a picturesque Japanese courtyard replete with paper lanterns, tatami mats and DIY barbecue burners. The space is dedicated to yakiniku, or Japanese-style grilled meats, and is just aching for big groups and special events. Grab some entrees to nibble on (the chawanmushi egg custard comes highly recommended) while you watch your mains sizzle away in front of you.

Impressive first occasion
Delightful minimalist style deco, with some obvious decorations and seating arrangements to leave you in no doubt of its Japanese origins.

The food was eye-catching, exquisitely laid out on the plates and very fresh...the tempura was a mini piece of artwork..almost too pretty to eat.

Will have to try the BBQ section, at the back, next time! A nice addition to the eateries along Unley Rd.
