Rude Staff
We went to Gingerlee having been assured by a fellow food friend that it was an absolute must for the best French toast.
That may well be the case but we will never know, because the waitress was so rude to us before we could even place an order, that we left.
We will never go back

Rude staff
After taking my mother to Gingerlee for what was supposed to be a nice casual brunch out, to one of our local 'friendly' cafes... I definitely won't be going back. The staff here are incredibly rude. We patiently sat there while they served everyone around us, totally ignored our attempts to attract a waiter & then mocked us. Then when paying to leave, after noticing that they only accept cash & expressing my surprise at this by saying "Oh, you don't accept cards," it was met with a surly "What... can you read?" as the waitress displayed their CASH ONLY sign. Nice. As a local, it's disappointing to see Lygon St go this way. The strip has gradually developed a lovely friendly community feel, which Gingerlee clearly doesn't subscribe to. There's plenty of other great cafes along Lygon, you don't have to suffer rude service & average food.

Good coffee.
Waiters who don't write down your order always make me nervous but ours came out just as we requested. The breakfast is one of the better ones on offer in Brunswick and they do a great latte which is enough to keep me coming back on a saturday morning.

Coffee and Eggs
A rainy morning and the cash only policy meant a trip to the servo down the road and me getting soaked. (what is with the cash only policy, melbourne cafes?) Back at the cafe, the service was fine but not friendly. My order came out quickly. The menu is quite interesting. Middle eastern takes on your standard breakfast food. I enjoyed the shashouka (baked eggs in a spicy israeli style tomato casserole) $11. I also ordered extra sides of bacon which were generous portions at $3 each and nicely done. Almost everything comes with toast even if it is not mentioned on the menu (thumbs down). The coffee was tasty. The only newspapers on offer were the Herald Sun and the Age.

Breakfast
I went here for breakfast when they first opened and found the staff really rude. They messed up my order and then the waiter argued with me over him being right. I gave them a few more chances and have found them to be this way every time. The food is not so magnificent that you would put up with it (well i wouldnt) They make it very clear that they strictly will not modify any items on the menu.
