Gigibaba

With dishes created by renowned chef Ismail Tosun of the now-defunct Eminem in Perth, patrons may well feel the urge to rave about the food on offer at this funky Byzantine-style eatery. Expect contemporary Turkish nibbles such as broad beans with wafer-thin slices of garlic and vinegar, while larger dishes on offer include milk-fed lamb tossed in a baharat spice mix; or squab with chilli and cinnamon. There's an agreeable wine list too, with drinks served by the glass or in 300ml and 500ml carafes.

Very nice but portion sizes on the small side
Had a lovely dinner with two others at Gigibaba last night but luckily the extreme summer weather conditions had zapped our appetites... Portion sizes are on the small side. Think tapas rather than normal entree/main/dessert serving sizes. The food, however, was all delicious, fresh and appealing to the eye. The service was friendly and atmosphere wonderful with a mish-mash of low-hanging bare bulbs whose soft light twinkled rather pleasingly. The range of alcoholic and non-alcholic drinks available was very good.

Be warned that they do not take bookings and gets quite busy, which is easy given the small size of the restaurant. We got there at 6:30pm to snare the second last available table and we spent the next two hours watching people getting turned away. I was happy to be able to dine there after never having the chance to visit Eminem while living in Perth a few years ago... Kept on walking past it because it was always so busy!

I would recommend Gigibaba for people who love tapas and are interested in trying some modern Turkish food.
