Gems at the Spot actually lives up to its name
I had breakfast at Gem's on a Wednesday morning with three other girlfriends. We actually went there by accident as gem's is quite a hidden cafe yet is right next to the only atm at the spot. Glad we did- eggs Benedict to die for- perfect combination of doughy bread, avocado and egg- coffee nice and strong but also great because you can ask to have it tailored to your own personal likes i.e. really hot/ room temp- most other cafe's are a little to full of their own way of doing things to care about the customers choice- Refreshing!!! The two young girls who seem to be running the place were friendly, provided great service and made us feel comfortable to sit all morning, read magazines and relax. I had a great time as although this cafe has a really funky surry hills vibe going on it lacks in pretension.

Special Brithday
We invited 13 people to share a special brithday, we had been to Gems a couple of weeks before and were very impressed.
We were set up at the window in the room upstairs overlooking the Ritz Cinema, the room had a warm ambiance, beautifully arranged occasional chairs and tables, away from the dining table, the room had a lovley warm atmosphere, everyone loved it and it gave us time to chat, relax, have a champagne and take photo's before sitting down.
The menu was excellent, the food was delicious, Steak cooked to perfection, angry salmon mouthwatering,the service was efficient and friendly, the girls were always asking if we needed anything further, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. We were all delighted with it. I would rate it 8 out of 10 and thankyou to the staff for making my birthday special.
