A bit of an institution around Sydney, the Garfish restaurants provide residents from the southern side of the water with a compelling reason to cross the bridge. Much more than just a fish and chippery, the Garfish eateries offer market-fresh seafood, from simple grilled kingfish to zucchini flowers stuffed with crab, salted cod and scallops. The Manly version adds to this winning formula with a woodfired oven, which produces piping hot wood-roasted seafood, from a scallop, prawn and potato pizza; to smoked rainbow trout. For those didn't take the ferry over (and have their appetite whetted to razor sharpness by the salty harbour breeze), the restaurant is wide open to the crisp ocean air - providing a briny appetiser to the seafood feast to come.

Great spot for all occasions
This was my first visit to the new Garfish. I have regularly visited their Kirribilli and Crows Nest restaurants. We had an early dinner with friends who have small children. We had great service from our waitress, Libby, and the children's meals came quickly and they loved their special desserts.
Our fish was cooked to perfection and we also tried some woodfired seafood which was fabulous. All very fresh and innovative side-dishes. The Blue Eye Trevalla from NZ was wonderful.
Overall a great spot with water views, lovely food and great service considering they've only been open a week. Manly has been waiting for something as good as Garfish offers for a very long time. We'll be back!

Only new but already great!
Wow, Manly needs more restaurants like Garfish. I have eaten at the Kirribili and Crows Nest Garfish restaurants and now I don't have to travel so far for my fix of fresh fish. Only one week old and the latest Garfish has already made the locals awaken from their slumber of local cuisine mediocrity. Eating woodfired fish and seafood from the oven is a new addition to the usual Garfish menu. I particularly enjoyed the Kilpatrick oysters and I can't wait to sample more of the woodfired offerings. The next door table to me had a platter of seafood and it looked fantastic! The only distraction, apart from the scrolling Plasma images of restaurant activity and view of the harbour, was the unsureness of the new staff, but I'm sure they will improve as the restaurant finds its feet.
