One of the most unique restaurants in Cairns, the Garden Room is like a world tour for the tastebuds, offering a festival of flavours from across the world. Covering, and intertwining, Indonesian, Sri Lankan, European and Australian styles, accomplished chef Phoebe Tucker loves the interplay between different herbs, spices, fresh fruits and vegies.
In fact, Tucker is passionate about creating freshly prepared meals all around, with a prime focus on vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free foods, and any other dietary requirements or special preferences. While meat-eaters have a fair amount of braised lamb shanks, pork curries and crab cakes to choose from, vegetarians can turn to the vegetarian curry, vegetable spring rolls and green paw paw herb salad for herbivorous happiness.
Children are also welcome at this intimately lit garden room, with a change table and highchairs provided alongside books, toy baskets, colouring books and even a DVD player to keep them well out of trouble. Adults can join one of Phoebe's cooking classes to learn the ins and outs of Sri Lankan and Indian cuisine.
