Restaurant Information
Garcia & Son
By now you probably know that Windsor's latest opening is a tapas parlour and wine bar by third-generation restaurateurs, father-and-son team John and Nick Garcia. But hospitality isn't horse racing, and having a thoroughbred father/grandfather who started Maxim's doesn't automatically make you a good restaurant owner. Instead, the proof is in the pudding (or the crema catalana, in this case), and with its affable charms and intimate vibe, Garcia & Son would be a hit no matter who opened it. The food here is billed as tapas and, refreshingly, is actually tapas - not canape portions with entree price tags. The menu is an homage to the tapas bars of Barcelona and Madrid, with authentic dishes like huevos muijol (quail egg on caviar toast) alongside the requisite fashionable items like jamon (Spanish ham) and mariscos (seafood).
