Ganache Chocolate Lounge is a unique dessert cafe that serves a dazzling array of cakes, slices and gelato, showcasing the fine European-style chocolate handmade on the premises by Melbourne-based chocolatier Arno Backes. Paying homage to the European chocolate and coffee house tradition, Ganache has a magical boutique vibe to it, setting it well apart from the growing proliferation of 'chocolate cafe' franchises. Kerbside seating on hip Toorak Road adds to the European ambience, while inside the polished floorboards, open-brick walls and warm tones create a homely atmosphere.
If the desserts and delicious scents aren't enough to entice, there's also an extensive list of decadent beverages on offer, such as designer hot chocolates flavoured with Mexican chilli, winter spices, hazelnut, and orange cointreau as well as chocolate-infused coffees. The cafe's top temptation is the extravagant Ganache Panache platter - an aesthetically-presented sample-serve of all the mousses and gateau on offer. Less rich options - such as strawberry and almond mousse and traditional Swiss carrot cake - are available to satisfy those craving a fruity relief. A counter service offers take-away truffles and solid chocolate bars that range from tried-and-true combinations, such as roast almond and milk chocolate, to the extraordinary combination of white chocolate encrusted with preserved Tibetan Goji berries.
