Re-Fused
We had been to Fuse before and not had the best of nights with disappointing service but after several friends raved about it we decided to give it another try and so glad we did!
There has been a change of manager and the new young girl that's taken over did a fantastic job greeting us the second we came through the door, coming across very genuine, always there to attend to our every need without smothering us and showed passion to give customers a night out and not just a meal. The bartender was new but he was very friendly and engaged politely with us in conversation when we stopped him with our questions, making us feel like the only customers there, despite people being turned away at the door. The girl serving us was lovely despite seeming a little flustered at times.
The food was amazing, a beautiful mix of flavours without being overcomplicated, a modern twist on some classic meals. The menu seemed a touch pricey at first look but once you have tasted the food you can tell how much care has been taken in preparation and the sheer quality of local produce used (even the iced coffees used a homemade vanilla bean ice cream!).
The decor was probably the only thing letting the place down, those horrible face paintings on the walls! Perhaps done by a local introductory art class? In such a small inside space the tables were a little close together and the air-con blew directly onto us - we were asked if we'd like it switched off but I figured that then complaints would come from the other end that it was too hot. There is pavement seating out the front and an outdoor area through a narrow hallway to the back which we used last time, however to be honest this needed a little sprucing up with the crisp white tablecloths and candlelight almost seeming out of place.
This restaurant has all the potential in the world with great food and now some great staff, this restaurant is a hidden gem that I doubt will stay hidden for long and I can't wait to go back.

Quite nice but a quick night out
I actually found the food quite palatable, but the night we went, we felt the atmosphere was not unlike a food court. That probably had a bit to do with our seating arrangement. We were along the wall, situated very closely between two other couples, and the food came almost too quickly. I am all for efficient service, but this was too quick. We barely had time to settle in. Before we knew it the night was over. The service was very good and the waiter was friendly and confident, but we also felt very rushed. It would be great if were going off to see a show or a movie (which we did end up doing as we had time to kill as the babysitters were still booked).
So, if you want a good restaurant to go to when you're off to see a movie or a show, this is it! Nice food, but time to go and do something else with your night as well.
