Great food, not for intimate dining
My partner and I have dined at Funtastico a few times as we live in the area. The atmosphere is very busy and quite loud so it is certaintly not for intimate dining. However, our food has always been of very good quality. The seafood pasta's (there are a few to choose from) are all very good, the duck is amazing and best of all the sticky date pudding - ! Wow! The service is a little hit and miss, I think they must have a high turnover of staff, but they are quite friendly etc. We will go back again.

Hit and Miss
Boldly open on a Monday after NYE - an evening when most Perth restaurateurs were giving their customers a break, Funtastico was too short staffed to deal with the influx of second choice refugees in the Subiaco area. Service was flustered; drink orders came after three reminders and kitchen was visibly disorganised. In fact, the kitchen staff found themselves flatfooted while waitstaff were fielding a chorus of "Is my main course still coming?" from several tables. Shared antipasto platter was well thought out and varied. Main course of chicken fagottini had an unacceptably gluggy texture and some pieces were difficult to ply from the plate. As it turned out, it wasn't worth the physical effort for each bland morsel. Spaghetti Marinara in the bag was uncharacteristically salty - if that is how it is meant to be then this restaurant owes me a few tablespoons of salt that were missed last time I orderd this dish. Pasta in a bag is always going to be a novelty but I would prefer it to be better than pasta in a can by a somewhat wider margin. Overall, the shared entree platter and one of four mains was worth eating. Didn't bother with dessert.

Funtastico?? - Rude-tastico
Never have I been treated so appallingly by management at a restaurant, and a supposedly good restaurant. They were rude and unhelpful, and when we complained about how we were treated, the maitre de dismissed our complaint without even listening.

What ever happened to common decency and respecting others (particularly the paying customer who keeps the business afloat)? I have worked in hospitality, and if I had spoken to a customer the way I was spoken to, I would have been sacked on the spot. Just because its a popular restaurant doesn't give them the freedom to be rude.

I will never eat there again, and have encouraged all of my friends to do the same.

Excellent
After looking at a number of options for a meal in Subi on a Saturday evening we settled on Funtastico.
The food was outstanding and the pasta was some of the best we have had.
The staff were excellent and the service very good, meals were all served at the same time and serves were a good size.
I would definitely go back there and would recommend it to others.

good food - good service - at last
Having shifted to Perth just over 7 months ago my wife and I have been consistently disappointed with the standard of food and service on offer at restaurants compared to Sydney and Melbourne. I am pleased to say that Funtastico is a real find for us and last we have found a restaurant that combines good food with good service. Funtastico is really busy every time we go there and now we know why - this must be Perth's best-value restaurant. Lucky to have found it as they don't advertise.

Great value
I was among a party of four who dined at Funtastico on Wednesday night (14th Feb). Our friends were from Melbourne and we were all very impressed with the excellent food and good service. The atmosphere is a real buzz. My husband and I know how consistently good it is at Funtastico and it really is one of the few places that you can take guests with confidence. We had a very nice night and the cost was reasonable.

Poor service
Definitely not recommended. Extremely poor service.

We made a booking as you do when you're having dinner at a restaurant. When we arrived we were duly informed that there was no booking under our name. We were then made to wait until my friend got fed up and enquired again and was told the booking was written down wrongly. By that time, they'd given our table away, so in bending backwards to find a table for us (note the sarcasm) we were finally led to a table at the back of the restaurant next to the toilets. Maybe if we were abrasive and rude, or D-list football "celebrities" we might have gotten somewhere faster.

My meal was passable but one of the diners at our table found a bug in her pasta AND her wine.

This review is more about service than anything, because it can really spoil a person's night. The only thing you're paying for when you dine at this restaurant is the over inflated egos of wait staff who are trying to impress 1% of their clientele. I recommend that the owners take stock of the service levels in their establishment.

Disapointing
Sadly Funtastico has lost something. The food is still good but not great. The specials were interested but not inspired. Funtastico has lost the service skills and atmosphere it once had. Real shame, I'll fondly remember the energy it once had.
