They say you can tell a lot about a restaurant from its clientele. The visitors to Fujiya certainly speak volumes about the quality of the food served there. Firstly, there is always a large Japanese contingent representing - always a good sign at a Japanese restaurant. Secondly, the wait to get in is often almost more than one person can take. Until you are seated, that is; the second the rich Japanese dishes and fresh sushi treats appear before you the line is forgotten.
The only real surprise on the Fujiya carte du jour is the deep-fried camembert, which is well worth the calories it bestows. The pictorial menu is populated with freshly prepared, well-composed, traditional Japanese dishes. In Fujiya's case, patience is a virtue worth possessing.
