Uninspiring
The short version: boring food, genial service.
The long version:
I usually stick to the 'no hotel restaurants' policy, but I decided there are exceptions to the rule and Front might have been one. I'm sure I've eaten there before and it was great, but that was years ago and either I'm more fussy or something has changed.

Atmosphere was great and the service staff were really lovely. Music was great too, but I'm really there for the food. I was not inspired.

I had an entree of half shell scallops with hollandaise and grapefruit: scallops were the size of a 5c piece (unforgivable in Sydney) and had sand in them. Not convinced about the flavour pairing either.

Main was duck breast and confit duck leg, totally lacking in any excitement: that's literally all it was (oh, it had spinach gnocchi which were good but didn't add any dimension to the dish. They were handmade, however, which is slightly redeeming). The T-Bone next to me looked well cooked, but it would have beenjust as at home on an RSL menu and should have had more flair.

Cheese platter for dessert was again nothing special, and for $24 I really would have expected fresher and more different cheeses - it was the kind of board you would gather together to take to a mate's BBQ.

Additionallyand on principal, I can't respect a restaurant that only serves you meat on your dish and relies on you to balance it with your sides selection. If I order a plate of food, I expect it to be able to stand alone. Especially at these prices.

Sorry guys. If only you matched the level of food with the service and atmosphere, you would be a lot busier on a Saturday night.
