Fresh from success with Porgie & Mr Jones, Jason Jones has opened up this cosy, homely and surprisingly large (by Melbourne standards) cafe with the aim of it becoming your new favourite place. The concept is that almost everything here has been produced or made for, sold or given to the cafe by Jones' friends, and that you'll feel like coming here is like coming to a mate's place for a laze around and a bite. It certainly feels that way, with eclectic, mismatched decor and a brilliant hangover cure to boot: It's the Pick. Me. Up. Please., a brioche roll with bacon, tomato chutney, scrambled eggs and Maffra cheddar. The eggs Benedict is also a favourite, and a breakfast of either one of those will have you feeling sprightly and chipper and ready for a tipple in no time - which, conveniently FoM can provide.
For lunch, zucchini and corn fritters with coriander, chilli and cashew, or Hopkins River beef with polenta, caramelised onion, fontina, beetroot relish and poached egg should get your appetite going, and be enough encouragement to hang out here all day long.
