Francisco's warm, colourful ambience is the perfect backdrop to the traditional Spanish food cooked by owner/chef Francisco Lopez. You could imagine yourself on the other side of the world, with Spanish travel posters on the walls providing further fodder for the imagination. The bistro-style interior opens onto the outdoor courtyard - an ideal space for the sultry summer months. There are 16 tapas dishes priced at $8 each in addition to the regular menu, with authentic choices such as whitebait, chorizo and trevalla ceviche.

Francisco's on Hampden
Service started well - quick to take order and get drinks to the table. So slow with delivering meals that we were already halfway through our second bottle of wine by the time any food came. It was almost an hour, and we were just considering making some complaints. We noticed this was also the situation at all other tables. Because the food came so late and we had already had so much wine on empty tummies, we didn't fully appreciate the food. By that stage, a burger from McDonalds would have tasted good. What a pity. The restaurant was very loud (wooden floors) and we had to shout across the table to hear each other. There was also nothing with chocolate on the dessert menu, which disappointed most at our table. There were some good bits, but this restaurant really lets itself down with the slow kitchen.

Fantastic Francisco's
Great atmosphere. Friendly, relaxed and attentive service staff. Food is amazingly good. Tapas is great but signature paella is simply scrumptious. It was a fantastic night.

Francisco's
Late delivery of mains. No wine bucket. Food good but all points lost due to lack of service between courses.
