Looking out over the water in true Port Elliot style is this quirky cafe which, obviously, specialises in seafood. Grab a glass of local wine and wait for dinner or lunch to be served.

becoming complacent
Used to be a great cafe. We have been regulars there for many years and enjoyed their seafood, especially fish and chips and calamari salad. This year, unfortunately, the quality dropped significantly. Last time the calamari salad was so salty it was inedible. Today, we were sold fish that was soaked in fat, undercooked and served with COLD and soggy chips. From now on, we will be visiting Horseshoe bay with your own picnic pack.

Cold drinks people cold drinks
Our dining experience was very pleasant at the Flying Fish and our meals were fantastic and presented beautifully, but big big issue hot night and our drinks beer and white wine were served at just under room temperature, when I ordered wine after two tepid glasses of champagne I asked for it to be put on ice before it was served still not cold enough we put ice in the wine something I would never normally do, I believe there were issues with the freezers as most desert with ice cream wasn't available also we were told by the waitress the bugs were off!!? On my way to the ladies room I noticed that the staff were feeling bottles of wine coming from the fridge I guess to get cold ones, anyway I think if you have refridgeration issues on a night when the restuarant is full and hot you get ice brought in and pack bottles of popular white wine, beer and especially champagne in ice. Staff didn't seem to care too much either very relaxed too relaxed. Enough said I am going to give Flying Fish another try soon and hope for cold drinks.

Fying great!
Arrived without a booking, no problem. Service should stand as a model to many city restaurants, it was effective without being fussy, it was friendly and informative. Food was beautiful, a real fusion dish was the duck confit spring roll with pork and poached peach. Wine list was broad enough to find favourites and experiments. Can't recommend highly enough.

Divine dining
This was a wonderful lunch. The food was wonderfully cooked, interesting and beautifully presented. The wine was lovely, the service friendly, knowledgeable and very proficient. A favourite location with a beautiful view of the ocean and the beachside park. Surprisingly relatively child friendly, although could be challenging for some in the quiet environment. The squid in particular was a favourite - the memory lingers!
