Fix Bar & Restaurant

Fix shows how a restaurant renovation should be done, jazzing up a space without losing its original character. Located in the Port Office Hotel building, this classy eatery presents a traditional exterior with a modern feel inside. The contemporary Australian menu emphasises seafood and steak, including such delicacies as Goulburn River smoked trout, and crispy pork belly. At the wine bar, you can sample delicious drops while biting into the fine tapas and pizza selections.

elegant and fun
my husband and I dine out on a fairly regular basis, we do have our favourite places to go but this time we thought we would try somewhere new. Some freinds mentioned their dining experience at Fix restaurant so we thought we would give it a try.
We were greeted at the door by a friendly host by the name of mish and was sat in a secluded area of the restaurant which suited us perfectly. My husband had the cape grim steak and I had the pork and scollops, these were cooked to perfection, the steak was moist and very tender and the pork and scollops we the best I've ever tasted. There weren't too many people dinning but town itself was fairly quiet and this was ideal for our romantic meal.
I would gladly recommend this place to all my freinds and will be returning

We won't go back!
We went there for a birthday and had a great evening.
It is a beautiful restaurant, recently renovated. The service was great. Our friend recommended to us as when she went (almost a year ago), she loved it.

However this time, the food was not great at all.
I had the tigerprawns risotto and it did not have a lot of flavours. Or maybe paella flavours, but that's not what we expect from a risotto.
Our friends around us had:
- a pizza (too dry, the crust was alomst 2cm wide for a rather small pizza);
- a sirloin (asked for well done and had it medium/medium rare)
- fried calamari (did not finish her plate)
- a rump with peppercorn sauce (the sauce was ... well special: very dark and pretty thick, with a unusual taste.

So overall, a beautiful restaurant but very disappointing food. We won't go back.

Great food - usually great service but must go at lunchtime
I go to Fix alot for lunches during work however this time I took my husband for our anniversary for dinner. As usual the food was wonderful - I've never had a bad experience here with food and usually the service is outstanding at lunch time when it's packed.
This time however, it took 20 mins for my cocktail to arrive so I actually ordered another drink while I was waiting. When I looked over to the bar, the barman was leaning over the bar and speaking to two friends instead of making drinks!! When paying $15 for a cocktail, you'd think he'd get his act together!
Other than that, if you want a great meal that is always consistently good - go here but probably for lunch instead of dinner.
