great food
Had dinner on a very busy saturday night. Apparently there was something on at the civic centre. It's advisable to book ahead. Service was quick and friendly, water bottle topped up when needed, mains arrived 10mins after we ordered!! We had the battered fish and chips with aioli which is to die for and also the salmon caesar salad. All excellent value and cooked beautifully.

Shocker!
Ok I will make this quick. Waited forever for meal to arrive, when it finally arrived the service was downright rude, the chicken wasn't even cooked and continually got our orders wrong for drinks. Was a relief to get out of there to be honest. If you are in the restaurant game & want to make some money Ipswich is the place to set up shop - you couldn't be worse than what's already out there. Terrible all round! Oh and one more thing - it's not cheap either ;(

Dinner with Friends
As someone who likes to support local business, Fig Jam seemed like the perfect place to start our 'dinner club'. We found the loudness of the music a little off-putting, especially at a table with more than four people. Our meals were quite disappointing as the freshness of the Balinese chicken was questionable as both the chicken and the rice where very dry. The 'fish and chips' were very thick with batter and dry also. The only 'happy' diner was a steak eater who commented that her meal made up for the poor service. While the disappointing meals did not stop us from having an enjoyable evening, sadly we won't be going back to Fig Jam - well not for dinner anyway!

Post-election recovery meal
It's nice to be able to relax with friends after such a hectic Saturday, and have good food with nice drinks, hear a great live music duo and not spend a fortune!
The only downside was the passing traffic which tooted at us girls a couple of times to attract our attention as we dined alfresco.

A nice little secret
Sunday Rugby and Ipswich so where is open? Caught the end of the Lunch rush at Fig-Jam. Pleasant little bistro in a main street fairly busy. The faults first, the music (live-ish) was a bit loud for conversation and, due to the rush, the food took ages to arrive. When it did arrive it was good. Calamari was not greasy or rubbery, the interesting-sounding pizza was well - interesting -and a sandwich melt disappeared into the young rugby player without touching the sides. Cakes and coffees to follow and not just the "usual suspects" in the display. Worth a trip from the big smoke - probably not - but we were wondering if we will be playing Ipswich again.
