Fiasco

In almost no time at all this Coffs Harbour fine-dining establishment has swept the local restaurant scene by storm, earning a spot in The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide in 2008, only a year after it opened. It comes as no surprise to hear that the family-owned Fiasco (formerly Caffe Fiasco) does spaghetti, gnocchi, risotto and much more in authentic, homemade Italian style. Yes, this family knows its traditional pasta and pizza like the back of its hand, sourcing top-class local and imported ingredients and making everything on the premises, infusing the meals with a regional northern Italian touch.

Located on the beautiful Coffs Harbour Jetty Strip, the bubbly atmosphere of Fiasco spills out onto its large outdoor areas and also thrives in the indoor wine bar and lounge spots. A comprehensive what's what of Italian cuisine appears on the menu, from antipasto to tortellini and then some, so it's wise to arrive with an empty stomach and a burgeoning appetite.

A fantastic night out
The service was a little slow to start, but once things got going, this turned into a great dining experience for my 7 colleages and me.

The food was very fresh (especially the seafood) and the style of food contemporary and exciting. The wine list was quite good.

My table was fairly rowdy, and we possibly disturbed other patrons, but the staff were very warm and good humoured with us.

This is not a cheap place to eat (we spent just over $650), but I felt it was worth the expense.
