After her huge success with Lotus and Ash Street Cellar, Lauren Murdoch has opened the doors on a new venture from the Merivale juggernaut - this time a contemporary French bistro. All the way across the laneway of Ash Street, still in the shadow of the Ivy complex, Murdoch's new digs are a casual yet sophisticated interpretation of the classic bistro formula.
Felix boasts a concise menu of staple favourites and a few left-of-centre inclusions that may puzzle some traditionalists (until they are tasted, when all reservations will be forgotten). Expect to see confit duck, steak tartare and souffles sitting alongside beer-battered fish and a devilishly good Reuben sandwich that has the potential to join Sydney's ever-growing list of cult food items.
