Fatima's

One of the very best Lebanese restaurants in Surry Hills, Fatima's is a favourite with both takeaway customers and private parties which can lounge at leisure in one of the several cushion rooms and order a banquet menu. It's also great for a first date. The service is friendly, the vegetarian fare delicious and the exceptionally potent garlic chicken is legendary. Subdued lighting and silk rugs on the walls provide a suitable backdrop to the belly dancer who usually arrives around 10pm. The pub over the road is handily located for BYO.

Love Fatima's
I have been going to Fatima's for 32 years and I love their food. My family also love going to Fatima's. I have tried a few other Lebanese restaurants along Cleveland and Elizabeth Street but have never been happy with the food. I don't think anyone can beat their dips and tabouleh. I used to love their vine leaves but over the last few years they have become more spicy so not as yummy as they used to be. I love their cabbage rolls and lady fingers and their garlic chicken is to die for. If you are passing by and don't have time to dine in try their garlic chicken kebabs I always have a couple of falafel's with mine they are delish, I defy anyone to find a better Kebab in Australia.

Overrated
I was very disappointed with the food. We ordered a few dishes & they all pretty much came out lukewarm. The meat was on the dry side and cold. The worst would have to be their cabbage rolls. I left 2/3 of it untouched because it was too lemony and unpalatable. The atmosphere was ok-it was quiet and we wanted privacy, the decor was 'nice' to say the least but I wasn't impressed. The overall feeling made the restaurant look 'cheap' and not a place I would want to celebrate my birthday again.

Somewhat dissapointing
We arrived approx 9pm with a prior booking for 4 after being told they closed at 3 am. We ordered the $25 banquet, due to the difference of 1 piece of kofta for an additional $10, no way. The food was brought out bit by bit at first which was good, then they started bringing out the other plates way too fast so it started to get cold, the music was nice but way too loud, the belly dancer arrived between 9.30 and 10pm. She was great but only stayed in our room for 1 song approx 5 mins, we expected her to go from room to room then return again but didn't, so that was a major disappointment. Then as the diners in the room next to us left, they turned down the music and asked us if we would like the coffee and dessert now, but I told them we hadn't finished yet, but yet somebody brought it anyway so I sent it back. 10 mins later they brought the bill, then before 10.15 pm we were told they were closing so I had to ask for the dessert and coffee. We quickly finished, paid then left in a big rush. Not quite what I had planned for my wife's 40th birthday celebration.

We ordered the banquet for two, the cabbage and vine rolls were terrible. The lady fingers came out burned solid and the garlic potatoes tasted of vinegar not garlic, we also didn't receive all the parts of the banquet that we ordered. It was virtually impossible to get the attention of staff, who were running around like headless chickens.
