Away from the crowds, this peaceful little cafe serves a relaxing brekkie and lunch at a reasonable price. It's a cute and cosy experience with owner/chef Andrew Brodie not only providing the meals, but also the decorative photographs dotted across the main wall. The serene images of flora and fauna won't stop you from going wild over the homemade pies, quiches, sandwiches, salads, muffins and other tasty treats rolling out from the kitchen.

I gambled - and lost
Sometimes, with eating out, you need to take a risk. And so I did with Madding Crowd. I'd often seen it, across from Woden shopping centre, and thought it might be a funky little cafe away from the standard shopping centre food court fare on offer across the road. Once recently, we actually tried it out. And it was, sadly, very disappointing.
Think tiny little take away / milk bar, without the primal satisfaction of deep-fried naughty things. And without decent coffee. Or anywhere halfway decent to sit. It seems more like a place for nearby office workers to drop by and pick up their ritualistic morning/afternoon cuppas. Although the lady working there was nice enough, it sadly wasnt enough to save the place - not for me, anyway.
