Get absolutely fabulous at this recent addition to Melbourne's prodigious cafe/restaurant scene. Making its mark in McKinnon, Fabulous promises a fine dining experience from people with experience; founders Ross Parker and Anthony Green have worked across the Victoria, England, Asia and Europe, and have formerly owned popular Melbourne haunts such as Zest and Zartowa. As such, a multitude of experiences present themselves at their new eatery, infused with a modern Australian sensibility and tinges of Asian, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean style.
Cloaked in beige and oak hues, the brasserie-style setting changes its personality for each meal: for weekend breakfast and brunch it's eggs, chorizo and pastries; for lunch it's pies, curries, soups, risottos and salads; and for dinners, take your pick of the fresh seafood, lamb, beef and salmon dishes. An extensive wine list tops off the "fabulousness", although there are two BYO nights per month for the ever-growing local clientele.
