No love felt on Valentines Day
My husband took me to Eves for dinner on Valentines Day and we both felt so disappointed by the meal. The portion sizes were exceptionally small and just weren't compensated enough by any unique flavours. I chose the barramundi and it definitely wasn't fresh, the presentation was flat and bland. The only vegetarian option on the menu was a tiny souffle, no bigger than a mini muffin, served as a main. The atmosphere was thick and hot and humid until finally the staff opened the windows which let a glorious river breeze through and cooled it down. Not sure why they waited so long to do this? The meals (albeit a set menu choice) were served quickly after ordering but we had to ask twice for our drinks. I have great memories of this place in the past but unfortunately could not recommend it to anyone now.

A breakfast that wasn't...
Unfortunately we went for what we knew as a great breakfast and it seems things have changed while we were gone...

We arrived during a busy time albeit the restaurant was not completely full. Upon seating we were asked what we wanted to order - having just sat down and not even opened the menu, we asked for a few more minutes. Fifteen minutes later a waitress arrived asking if we wanted to order drinks where I ordered a coffee and my husband some water. We waited another 15 minutes, looking at the waitress' to try and attract attention until another 5 minutes later I called out a waitress for assistance. Unfortunately no-one ever came back, not even with our drinks, and another 5 minutes later we left for breakfast around the corner.

It is a pity as I have had breakfast there a few years ago before we left the country and loved it!

Great views and great food
A visit to Eves for breakfast has always been great, although it had been a long time since I had been for dinner, and it certainly was good. My steak was cooked perfectly rare, with an amazing sauce and sides. Well presented and well priced. The service can be quite 'amatuer', but for how well the meals are priced you can't really complain. All topped off with a beautiful view over the river. Definately recommended.

Service and portion size a let down
We visited Eves for lunch and loved the riverside location. Whilst the food was ok, the portion size of my boyfriends steak was very disappointing. The menu described it as having cavalo nero and celeriac puree. There was probably 1/3 of a leaf of cavalo nero (if that) on the dish and about 1 tablespoon of celriac puree. For the price I thought that was terrible. I had the vegetarian pumpkin linguini, and whilst the portion size was good, the dish was average and overly oily.

I found the service very disappointing. One of the diners at the table next to us dropped their napkin. The wait staff looked at the napkin on the ground each time they passed it, stepped over it and generally moved to avoid it but no-one actually picked it up off the ground. Our meals also all arrived seperately (we were a group of 6). 2 dishes arrived first and were nearly finished by the time the last arrived. Drinks took forever to arrive too.

Whilst the location is good there are many more restaurants out there that offer better service and value for money.

Sensational Experience
The seafood linguini was the highlight! They served very good steak and barramundi. Not to mention their beer battered chips!

Almost perfect
We went to Eves to celebrate my birthday. We can not really fault the food, enjoyed a range of entrees including curry chicken spring rolls and corn fritters both were excellent. Our bread arrived after our entrees however we can't really complain as they wiped it from the bill. Mains were fantastic, the steak was perfectly cooked. One of the desserts we wanted was sold out however we ordered others which were so good we quickly forgot about the other. Highly recommend the espresso martini - very yummy! Service was ok, we did have to ask a couple of times for some drinks and the waiter got a little confused about our order. Overall a wonderful lunch, we will be back again!

What a lovely lunch...
I took my Mum to Eve's for her birthday lunch on a wonderful warm, sunny winter's day. It was midday and nobody was sitting at the tables by the windows which were in full sunlight; we sat one row back in the shade but close enough to the windows to enjoy the great view and relaxing ambience. The service was friendly and efficient; the meals were very good... my Atlantic salmon main was simply sublime, while the other main was the duck (which I ended up finishing off... thanks Mum!) which was tender, moist and tasty; altogether very good; in fact I don't usually order duck because so many chefs seem to think I enjoy my duck overcooked, oversalted and tough; but definitely not so here. We also enjoyed wine by the glass (a Clare Valley reisling as I recall) and were very happy that it was fresh (as there is nothing worse than oxidised wine, yuk!). Probably more popular with the older dining set, I highly recommend Eves on the River.

Great service
Met friends for lunch here. Food was okay, service was great, prices were a little on the high side for what you got.

Adequate
Nice views but somehow still feel a little claustraphobic at Eve's. Tends toward high temperatures near the windows which makes dining uncomfortable. Service is good, food is great but not spectacular.

Setting is a great river view. Especially first thing in the morning. I have been here for dinner, organised nights and breakfast on a number of occasions. The food is a little different with style and really nice. The eggs Benedict are lovely. The service at dinner was outstanding each time! We usually go early and are treated exceptionally by the waiter. He suggests a beautiful Champagne cocktail with the frills. Keep an eye out for their special nights. They are great to organise with a few friends, you won't be disappointed at all.
