Ess Bar

Popped in here on the way home on Tuesday night for a quick bite. The restaurant section was empty and there was just a handful of people in the bar area. We were only after a light meal so ordered duck spring rolls, oysters kilpatrick and salt & pepper squid. The meals came out quickly and were very tasty. Duck spring rolls with dipping sauce were delicious and not overdone or greasy. The salt & pepper squid was served on a lovely hot selection of bok choy, broccolini, sprouts and chilli. The oysters were large and tasty. We enjoyed the food very much until we got home and felt the tell tale "salty" feeling that we get when we eat MSG. However if you have no problems with MSG, I would highly recommend!

Went to the Ess Bar for a meal & we decided to have tapas food. The menu sounded interesting so we ordered 5 dishes. There were quite a few tables this night so it was going to be interesting to see how the food arrived.
I would like to say now that the waitress's attitude all evening was not the best - there was no dialogue with the customer!!!!
The food arrived - All 5 dishes together!! and it was - to put it simply OVERCOOKED. Every dish seemed as if it had been left too long under the grill - very disappointing. We were ging to have a dessert but decided not to after the waitress took the half eaten food away without a single word asking how our meal was.
Back to the title - This bar is trying to plug itself as a restaurant & I think it suffers with an over complicated menu.
How about some simple pub food Ess Bar!!!
