Kingsford is a jackpot of Indonesian eateries, but this joint sticks out among the throng with its quaint front courtyard complete with paved concrete floors, pot plants, picnic tables with coloured umbrellas and a giant Indonesian billboard presiding over all. The kitsch overtones and fragrant-smelling food lend it instant appeal, particularly to those who have experienced firsthand the charmingly dingy restaurants of South-East Asia.
As is the standard in the area, the dishes are dirt-cheap, with an extensive variety of rice and chicken dishes. The nasi uduk complete (coconut rice with fried chicken and chilli potato) is a meal in itself, while the ayam goreng mentaga (fried chicken in butter sauce) is a finger-licking triumph.
