This local Turkish eatery is the kind of place that should only visited on an empty stomach, one that is eager to be filled past capacity. Erciyes is a family business. The Saracoglus clan first began serving takeaway to Redfern and Surry Hills locals during the late '80s and as demand increased the premises expanded. The dips are incredibly tasty (if you could make them a meal in themselves, you would), while the potato, spinach and onion pide and the mixed grill both come highly recommended. For those who enjoy a slightly more upbeat dining experience, the Friday and Saturday night belly dancers successfully spice up the space.

Erciyes fails on service
It cannot be denied - Erciyes has nice tasting food at a reasonable price.
Unfortunately, the service you can expect to receive from the home delivery service is terrible. Having ordered from there several times now, they have got the food order wrong most of the time.
Be aware that if you order dips you must ask for the bread (which according to the menu, always comes with bread). Even when you ask, you may or may not actually get it.
The parsley dip is far too strong to really compliment anything else as it is too overpowering. But don't bother asking for your mixed dips to not include the parsley variety as it's always the one dip they give you most of (I can only guess it is the cheapest to make).
When ordering, keep your fingers crossed that they get it near right and deliver the right number of meals as what turns up at your door may be significantly more or less than you expected. If you're unlucky, some of you will remain hungry.
Also be aware that if you ring them up again to explain that the order was mixed up, they will offer to come back and rectify the mistake...just don't expect them to actually show up.
I rated their service 1 out of 5, simply because the delivery man is rather pleasant. It's just such a pity the guys on the telephone are useless.

This restaurant is great fun for a crowd. Or if you just want some good food the takeaway is quick and divine. We used to live 5 minutes away and eat there regularly. Now we live an hour away, we make sure all our visits to Sydney are co-ordinated to get our favourite dips and breads
