Enoteca Sileno started out as an importing company, bringing the finest Italian wines, artisan-produced pastas, olive oils and numerous other Italian goodies to Melburnians. Their emphasis is still on the finest Italian products and the adjoining restaurant, which opened in mid-2004, is the perfect place to showcase their wares. The menu goes one step further, basing each dish on a different region in Italy and using their distinctive products and traditional techniques to create delightful assaggini (small tapas-style plates) that educate the culturally curious, as well as tantalise the gourmands.

Slow and a tad expensive
Lovely restaurant, round table worked really well, lovely food, extensive wine list - a tad on the expensive side. Service a bit slow. You need to watch the parking as in the side streets it is all permit parking, so best to park in Lygon Street.

Daylight Robbery
After spending months planning a surprise party for my partner I decided on Enoteca because of the all round good reviews. However on the night our waitress that was allocated to our table began flirty with a drunk member of our group and took her own initiative to serve him more alcohol at the $700+ bottle price tag. With knowledge that i was the only paying party of the table and that alcoholic and expensive purchases should be verified be myself, i was horrified to find a bill of over $2000 for a table of four. The food was not fantastic the service was disgusting and the manager would not apologize for the problem nor fix it.
Unless you won the lotto and would like to throw your money in the wind go and visit Enoteca sileno.
They wont hold you at gun point but they will rob you.
