Don't eat Spanish anywhere else
We live in Canberra, but whenever we go to Sydney this is the only place we eat at. The service is always friendly, they remember regulars (even if we are not so regular from Canberra), the food is superb and authentic and the deluxe sangria can't be beaten. Last weekend we ate at Encasa on both Friday and Saturday nights. The variety is so good that we had plenty to choose from but we could not resist going back for another taste of the 'special menu' croquettes on the second night. The seafood pizza has real seafood - not that marinara mix that many others offer. Highly recommended but book well in advance. This place is popular!

Make our surprise birthday excellent!
Just had a surprise birthday party for my husband last night. I give very high marks for this particular event, which was held for a pre-arranged table for 17, on a weeknight.

The staff were all very helpful and cooperative: in arranging the menu when I came 2 days beforehand to order it, accept the ice cream cake that was delivered in the morning (the chef even sacrificed freezer space for my cake) and also helped me with the timing of the food serving as it was a surprise dinner. They are very kind and smiley staff. Also helped to put the candles and bring out the cake and provide cake knife + dessert plates + serviettes.

All my guests commented on how nice and very good value the food was as it works out only $20/person including sangrias, and their tummy was full to the max! Personally, it was my first experience having Spanish food and I love all the food last night, especially the patatas bravas, albondigas, quatro quesos, the special sangria (thanks to staff who suggested this instead of the normal sangria). The paella was so nice too, with heaps of seafood on top.

All in all thanks to Encasa, the surprise birthday dinner for my hubby went so well, just as I hoped for. Will definitely come back to eat there especially in large groups so we can have a variety of food to order. I'd love to try the pasta and more seafood next time .

PS - to the people who complain about the staff not speaking English well: maybe you are the one who need to be a more considerate and tolerant person, try to learn another language and live in another country and you'll know how it feels. Sometimes we might speak too fast/unclear for them (the people who doesn't speak English as their mother language) so it's just a matter of repeat, be patient and smile.

Best-Value Spanish in Sydney
Off the beaten path from the Spanish Quarter. Its staff are friendly and the prices are fantastic. We normally order about 5 or 6 dishes between two people and the bill normally comes to around $50-60. Fantastic value and a place that I always take others to. Be warned, book early as it's always packed out every night.

Went for my birthday dinner with some work-only friends. We had a nice time, good value and good-ish food. However, they have no good air-conditioning so in summer it was get boiling. Also their phone number is always busy so making a booking takes days.

Always impressive!
This has to be one of the best Spanish tapas places in Sydney. We are never disappointed when we come to Encasa. It's always packed so bookings are essential. The service is friendly and the food is always so wonderful. We spent $20 per person. A bargain!
