Elysium feeds a lucky few in the evening and attracts fashionable latecomers to kick on with dancing shoes into the morning hours. Sandwiches dominate the lunch menu, with soup and pasta filling the gaps. The true delicacies are on the evening menu. The Grecian tasting plate contains chargrilled octopus and moussaka, however the specialty is the Asian duck salad. The balance of richness and flavour from the slow-cooked duck are beautifully cradled in a house-made wonton basket. A melange of Asian flavours abound in the dark and sticky sauce that dresses the accompanying Asian salad greens. To relax and soak up some atmosphere after your feast, there are comfy lounges and cushions in the fishbowl of a bay window for those who just want to watch passers-by in busy Hindley Street. The license allows Elysium to open till 3am, and on the busy nights the bouncers just keep turning people away. Better make a booking - just to make sure you're on the inside.
