In Greek mythology, Elysium referred to a resting place for the heroic and the virtuous. At this waterside spot though, diners need only be hungry or thirsty to find respite. Perched above the lake at Victoria Point, this restaurant and bar serves gourmet pizzas, brushcetta and tapas plates, such as herb-battered prawns and confit pork belly, to its chilled-out clientele.
By day, Lakeside Elysium offers a casual spot for a table full of tapas and a cheeky lunchtime French Martini. By night, DJs take to the decks as locals chow down on menu favourites such as the Cajun chicken, mushroom and mozzarella pizza, the Elysium paella and the oven-roasted lamb rump with white bean puree, roast cherry tomatoes, wilted spinach and lentils. On clear evenings, those in the know get in early to stake their claim on the outdoor table settings for the relaxing views of the water.
