After jostling through the crowds of Circular Quay, a retreat to higher ground is needed and ECQ, located on the mezzanine floor of the Quay Grand Suites, is just high enough to recover one's composure. It's also high enough to get a birds-eye view of the Harbour Bridge and the blindingly bright water of Sydney Harbour. Though the name marks it as a bar and drinks are a specialty, there's plenty of food available to keep you at this stylish spot. The menu ranges from bar-style nibbles (breads and dips, oysters with lime dressing) to more substantial, casual meals. Tuck into a satisfyingly basic cheeseburger with fries, or address a more serious hunger with something off the grill.
