The food at East Taste Cafe bursts with all the big flavours of lime, chilli, tamarind and cardamom that people associate with Asian cooking, and the prices bolster the human spirit. The kitchen takes calculated risks, yet all the staple sweet-and-sour and salt-and-chilli dishes are here to prove that Asian cultures can be melded into mouth-wateringly moreish, reasonably priced meals within the madcap city.

Love it!
I absolutely love East Taste. We eat there once a week. The food is beautiful, always brought out very quckly. The service is outstanding, very consistent. There has never been a time I've walked out of there unhappy. Definitely recommend it!

Always great!
I've been to East Taste Cafe many times and it never ceases to satisfy. After Friday nights visit, my view is no different. This time around we dined on S&P bean curd which is the restaurants unofficial signature dish - according to me, - S&P squid tentacles which my companion and I agree, is the most wonderful part of the squid having now tried them, and some XO chicken dish which was, regrettably, boring and pointless. The service, as per usual, was attentive and friendly. Apart from the boring chicken dish, the food was flawless as usual and the complete package satisfied!

The best chinese in SA!!!!
The food is fantastic, it really is the best Chinese you can buy in Gouger St. Be careful to choose, ass it's not the run of the meal western Chinese crap and needs some thought, but the staff are very helpful. We have been going there for years and return at least once a month, sometimes twice a month - and will continue to go again. The prices are very cheap. We always order an entree each and 3 mains and a rice disch, and come out for only approx $50.00 bargain.
