Duthy Street Deli

The two previous shopfronts have been divided to separate regulars and coffee mavens from the steady stream of busy foot traffic.

The servery has a number of tempting items - Portuguese custard tarts, a decadent Belgian chocolate and dried fruit slab - plus a range of regional sweets and pre-made baguettes and sandwiches for those on the run. The small counter blackboards describe the daily sandwich and salad specials. A dietician might scowl, but the homemade pies are delicious; the beef and red wine is a favourite, if it's there.

Although the waiting area has the daily papers, magazines, fresh bread, a beverage fridge and a pastry cabinet, patrons seldom jostle for a prime position. Counter space is tight, but there's plenty of room (and toys) for kids. Though there is always something a bit more elaborate for the finicky eater, the bank manager need never be troubled by a stopover at Duthy Street Deli.

Great!
I lunched at Duthy. Try the lunches, and the muffins! Great food, we will be back. Is it open for dinner?

Big fuss over nothing
You can find cafes and restaurants like this everywhere. The usual $10 soup, a smoked salmon dish and a Thai something or other. The soup came half filled in its bowl and the waiters/servers had a slightly stuck up attitude going on. Not casually friendly, but not overtly posh either. Nothing special. A quick meal if you need one.

An absolutely excellent venue. I have children and would feel very comfortable about bringing them. My husband and I visited without the kids and it was a very enjoyable, relaxing morning. It is a perfect venue for young couples, young family, older couples, business people etc. Just a great venue all round
