From the classic Ayudhya-style exterior to the elegant teak features inside, Dusit Thai positively oozes authentic Thai charm from every nook and cranny. The flower-filled reception area opens into an opulent but tastefully decorated dining space. Glittering stag statuettes sit atop cabinets of ornate antique china and gilt-framed pictures of Thailand's king and queen hang proudly on a wall of fine Thai fabric among myriad awards: from Gold Plate, American Express and The Sunday Times, to the highly prized Shell Chun Chim International Award. The food is equally rich in cultural traditions too. Owner Somkiat Chanlongsirichani and chef Prasit Nilprakobkul proffer a plethora of fresh, fragrant and flavoursome dishes, from the ever-popular green and massaman curries, to the stir-fried prawns in spicy tamarind sauce and the curry puff and fish cake appetizers. They're not too precious to disclose their trade secrets either; a range of cooking classes are available on demand for those keen to get creative in their own kitchen.

Good food. Reasonable prices and you can converse readily despite the fact there were lots of other people there.
