For alfresco dining in Darwin, Ducks Nuts has rightfully earned its place on the medal dais. The elevated tables above busy Mitchell Street are an excellent place to take in the ever-changing parade of passers-by while consuming quality food and refreshing beverages. The mod-Oz/Asian menu is varied and covers a range of tastes. Chef Stefan Ulrich is confident in his recommendation of the Duck's signature dish - duck. The Thai duck leg with banana curry, served with mango chutney and fragrant rice, is full of flavour and well complemented by a glass of Scuttlebutt Sauvignon Blanc/Chardonnay. If you'd prefer a salad in Darwin's tropical weather, the spicy chicken and almond salad is another solid choice. Take the weather out of the equation altogether by moving to the air-conditioned interior, where the contemporary polished concrete floor and minimal colours create surrounds that are cool in both temperature and style. Be sure to have a look at, if not a taste of, the 40-plus flavoured vodkas in Tzar's Vodka Bar. Coffee and cake from the adjoining Bar Espresso is a great way to complete a meal from this quality modern establishment.
