cafe DOV

Relocating from the original Darlinghurst site, Dov has retained most of its staff, clientele and panache. With a bit of fine tuning (the coffee is now Allpress and the menu has had a much needed makeover), DOV has gone from a good cafe to a great one, and to prove it the breezy cafe has already started winning accolades, voted a finalist in the 2010 Savour NSW Awards for Excellence in the category of Best Breakfast.

Not Bad
We were invited to this cafe/restaurant for dinner by friends and to be honest I wasn't expecting much. To that extent I was pleasantly surprised by a decent sirloin on polenta with red wine jus for main.
One friend had a pork special which looked great, but didn't really have much meat. My partner had a lamb backstrap which was done quite well (except for the 'drunken' artichokes, which were blatantly marinated in off-the-shelf mint sauce).

I had a very yummy home-style apple pie for dessert which was ample for me, but I had to pity my companions whose chocolate creme brulees were embarrassingly the size of an espresso cup. Really guys, that was ridiculous - especially for a dessert that is relatively cheap to produce.

Over all not bad for a cheap eat. Looked like it really depended on what you ordered. I was happy with my lot, but some others weren't too enthusiastic.

Upsides are BYO and early dinner menu (4pm-6.30pm)
