Dolce Lounge

Dolce is decadently decorated with rich dark wood, cushions and gilded mirrors - Melbourne chic with perhaps just a hint of colonial-style luxury. A sultry space for sipping cocktails in the evenings (or in the afternoons even), Dolce does a broad selection of lunches during the day. A bit more up-market than your average sandwich and salad joint, the menu ranges across some share-style nibbles, includes gourmet versions of the compulsory lunchtime sarnie, and settles on such main courses as the porterhouse steak with roast mushrooms and mash, or the prawn fettuccine with roast fennel pesto.

What a little gem
Working in the city we are constantly looking for new and exciting places to eat! We found it! It's like having the best of St Kilda/Brunswick and your living room all in one.
A smart wine list covered all basis for the group of 12 we had, a certified NZ sav blanc was the wine of choice as was a Shadowfax chardonnay.
The food was a treat, flavours from across the world covered everyone's needs, Moroccan lamb pizza, s&p calamari salad, and Turkish eggs - they do brekkie all day! So pay the spunky boys a visit, you won't leave disappointed, or out of pocket either! One of the great cheap eats!

Leave hungry and thristy
We booked well in advance for a celebration lunch of a party of 10. The menu had some great-sounding dishes at very reasonable prices consisting of around 10 variations of sandwiches $8-$12 and around 15 main courses $13-$20. The wine list was simple but also reasonably priced with around eight whites and eight reds.
Three of the party ordered salt and pepper calamari which was beautifully presented but on closer inspection it was like a game of spot the calamari with an average of three small pieces per plate for $13.90. Very disappointing.
We started with a bottle of Red Hill Estate Pinot Grigio - when we tried to order another we were told that was the last bottle. We asked for the wine list and were told that there was only one other white in stock!!
