Dogs Bar

Legend has it that some local graffiti inspired the naming of this legendary cafe. Dogs Bar has long been a hangout for local actors and regular St Kilda folk, as they vie for space and howl to be heard across the communal jarrah table. For a more intimate experience you might like to hire out the private dining room, which can host a sit down dinner for 25 or a stand up cocktail function for up to 100 of your closest friends. At the end of your meal, retire to the terrace for a cigar. Little has changed over the years - the food is still delicious, the coffee is still great, the crowd is still young and hip, and the wine list still has something for everyone.

Food was over priced & not the best in st kilda. staff ignore you, they would rather talk to each other about what they had been upto the night before. The toilets are disgraceful with the prices they charge you would think they go fix up the toilets. give it a miss loads more places to eat in st kilda. With better food and prices

Overrated
Went here on a nice balmy evening to sit on the terrace.
The menu had no options for a nice summery dinner except the over priced and frankly very average antipasto platter. Who has mashed potatoes and meat on the menu on a 40 degree day? The service was poor and the fellow diners on the terrace were a bunch of wanna be artsy hipsters. Also I don't want staff trying to sell tickets to some arts show on that evening while I am trying to relax!

Give it a miss
I'd heard a lot about this bar, however one can only imagine why. Full of pretentious wanna-be types name-dropping at every corner. Rather flat menu with few options and staff that appear to think that they are one hundred times more important than their customer - apparently their conversation about their last big night out is seemingly more important than my beer. Beer was cold but, really, head further down Acland Street in either direction and you'll do a lot better.
