Avoid the Thai Food
After a long day, having travelled from interstate I did not want to walk too far from my accommodation. The Director's Hotel Bistro was the nearest eatery and it looked OK with signage promoting its Thai cuisine. I assumed this meant a Thai chef.

Inside the booths looked cosy and comfortable. The air conditioning worked well despite the heat and there was a good view of the television, tuned to a cable sports broadcast. I went to the counter and chose the Lad Nha from the 'specials' board. The price was $15 which was at the upper end of the range I would expect to pay but I expected it would be worth it so I ordered it and some pineapple juice, paid my money and took a seat.

The uncovered table top was sticky but I couldn't tell if it was just the varnish or whether it hadn't been wiped down properly.

The service was reasonably quick and the serving was impressively large and mounded up on the plate. The sauce however, was gluggy and very bland. There were at least 4 or 5 medium size prawns that were overcooked but the real shocker was just how hard and dry the chicken pieces were. Complemented by limp vegetables and soggy noodles this was without a doubt, the worst Thai dish I have ever eaten.

I was tired, hungry and not thinking clearly so I ate what I could, leaving the rest. As I got up to leave there was no one at the counter. I considered waiting or trying to get someone's attention to tell them what I thought but I decided it would be pointless to complain since to serve food like this in the first place the cook would have to be beyond caring.
