Ethiopian food has been somewhat overlooked in the past, but as the small scattering of restaurants slowly grows (especially in Melbourne), it may finally be getting the attention it deserves.
Food at Dinknesh is served in the traditional Ethiopian fashion. All dishes are designed to share and are placed in the centre of the table. Diners then break off a piece of injera, a tangy, absorbent flat bread, and use it to scoop up mouthfuls of food. Tuck into the national dish, doro wot, a rich chicken stew with a spicy red pepper sauce, or try a bit of fuol, a hearty mix of beans with boiled eggs, tomatoes, onions and Ethiopian cheese.
Visit on the weekend and you can get more of an idea of the culture behind the food. Friday nights at the restaurant feature traditional Ethiopian dancing, while Saturday nights have live Ethiopian music.

the best ethiopia restaurnte in Melbourne by far! I've been to quite a few and most of them are terrible. I liked the freshness of the food and the delicious ethiopisna tast. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Really nice flavours, large serves and small prices
First time to Dinknesh and only second time we have had Ethiopian. The vegetarian set is huge and with a meat dish on the side, easily fed two people. Great range of dishes too all eaten with fresh injesh bread. Lovely service - very keen to hear how we liked the meal and to give recommendations if asked. Live music on the weekends, nice food and great prices give us a reason to return.
