The latest in the growing empire of Deus Ex Machina motorcycle emporiums with attached cafes, this Bourke Street offering doubles - as does its older sibling at the Camperdown HQ - as a bit of an ode to the two-wheeled contraptions, with shiny bikes and related paraphernalia littering the space.
The cafe is part indoors, part outdoors, sitting in a covered garage space (appropriately enough) with leadlight windows looking to the shop's interior. The Di Lorenzo coffee is already proving a major drawcard with Surry Hills locals, as is the brekkie and lunch menu, which ranges from snack-sized sweets and "in betweeners" like avocado on sourdough topped with creamed ricotta, mint and chilli (or there's always the dukkah-encrusted sardines with a semidried tomato paste on toasted Panini to tide you over), to hearty sandwiches like the corned beef, gruyere, pickles, sauerkraut and Dijon mustard on sourdough.
