Gourmet Traveller Feature Review - "In an area short on fine dining, a defiant restaurant is bucking the trend. Soulful cooking, chic room... Is Delizia the best in the west? "

Flavour Surprise
We ventured to DC, tempted by the reports of the "best in the west", & on our limited experience, we werent let down. Arriving at 1830, we had the place to ourselves for 30 mins, however it filled quickly from 1900. The initial impression was favouable with a stylish dining room, although too dimly lit & tables too close for our liking, & we were fascinated by the counter weight, controlling the door to kitchen? We were readily served with menu's, drinks & a carraway bread - which was the 1st indicator of the flavour intensity that lay ahead. We had the pork belly, a suberb tile with exceptional texture & fantastic crackling, accompanied by a stuffed bake apple; & the kingfish on mozzarella stuffed raddichio leaves, which had amazing flavours. These were accompanied by a rocket, walnut & apple salad with a mint & pomegrante dressing - amazing flavour again. We accompanied these with a couple of glasses of unknown, but suberb wines. We left (the 2 point scoring siblings on the next table) very satisfied with the our experience & would readily return to experience more of the amazing flavour combo's.
